438 lb Me
My name is David Negron and the name of this blog is Project 438 because well that’s where I started this journey at. As a software developer I have worked on many projects over the years but none as important as this one. I’ve been a professional Software Engineer riding a desk for the last 11 years. My work along with a sedentary lifestyle led me to weight of 438 lbs (Sept 2013), develop high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, insulin resistance and numerous other quality of life issues. On Nov 4th, 2013 I finally committed myself to change my life for the better.
I’ve been very fortunate to have the support of my family and friends on this new chapter in my life. The experience so far has been incredibly revealing. The most significant of which was my realization that I was using food for comfort and pleasure. This entire process has allowed me to peel away all of my empty excuses and reach deep inside myself for the courage I needed to change.
I’ve lost 167 lbs since I started my journey and I still have another 70-80 lbs to go before I reach my ideal healthy weight. Next March I will be celebrating my 40th birthday and would like to lose another 70 lbs in the next 26 weeks. My present plan is to check-in weekly every Monday and share my progress. Occasionally as inspiration strikes me I will share insights, lessons and maybe even a few retrospective posts of my journey.
